The criteria for this vessel was
to carry an 8 person crew for one-month long fisheries research
and patrols. Because it would be required to run crab pots to
determine quotas for the upcoming crabbing season it had to carry
a 10,000 lb deck load at 12-14 knots.
-
- It also carries a 19'
RIB on the stern and is loaded with modern electronic navigation
systems. The vessel was built at the Kennedy Ship and Repair
yard in Galveston, TX and can be made into a civilian mothership
for a 20' fishing boat to be carried on the foredeck.
